Thanksgiving

Friends, family and colleagues, as some of you may know I landed a job with GP Strategies last week. GP Strategies bought my former employer RWD Technologies last year, so it is almost a homecoming event. This a good match for all involved.

So, with the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, it is appropriate that I give thanks to my friends and family who helped and encouraged me during this transition period. I am fortunate to have a strong network and I appreciate all who helped.

I am lucky and grateful I have my health but I am more thankful for my loving family who never broke faith in me. Jobs and careers may come and go but it is our loved ones and friends who truly matter.

Hopefully, while we shuffle around trying to survive the mad dash for sales and good deals, we can take a deep breath, slow down and recognize the important things in our lives: Friends and Family.

My Friend

Today marks the 29th anniversary of the Beruit barracks bombing.  My friend, classmate and fellow Marine, 1Lt. Donald E. Woollett was killed in action.  Rest In Peace Marine, we will never forget. Semper Fidelis.

Networking

As you may know, last month I lost my job.  Unemployment is always a tough pill to swallow.  Many equate job loss to 5 Stages of Grief as introduced by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. Indeed.

One of things that has helped me during this transition period is a network of family, friends and colleagues who take the time of their busy day to provide suggestions, leads and reassurance.  Networking is more than just get someone to hand you a lead it is about helping each other.

Aker Solutions' North America's Most Advance Drilling Equipment Simulator

Aker Solutions is about to open North America's most advanced drilling equipment simulator in Katy, Texas. 

This simulator is my new baby at the Katy facility.  We have completed the hardware installation and will finish the software installation within the next 6 weeks or so.  This will be a great tool in addition to world class training we already supply our customers.
